From the President
A few topics for March-April: The Group Discussion BoardFirst off, battling the Forces of Darkness has not been easy nor offered any respite. Consequently, I have not been able to get the group discussion board freed and available for use yet. Fear not, though, I shall throw myself once more into the breach and with luck (and perhaps a little roguish charm) the discussion board will be up and operating this month.
Joining the discussion board will be completely voluntary, and announcements about chapter events will still be sent to every chapter member who has an e-mail address listed with the STC. ElectionsHear the roar of the crowds . . . or the screams of a mob. The STC elections are upon us. Those members who selected either classic or electronic membership options will be receiving ballots in the mail shortly.
We are still looking for a chapter president, program manager, and treasurer for the upcoming year. As someone who has served on the council in one capacity or another, let me assure you that volunteering is very rewarding. Volunteer OpportunitiesWhy volunteer? It gives you the opportunity to learn new skills that
you may not have learned in your job, it provides opportunities to network
with other communication professionals, it looks good on your résumé,
and contributing your knowledge, expertise, and time to the chapter improves
our profession, and enhances your career. Most importantly, volunteering
ensures the Snake River Chapter continues on and does not go quietly into
the night. We need your help.
